At Kakslauttanen Your meeting is definitely different!
Hotel & Igloo Village Kakslauttanen is located in the Saariselkä fell area amidst beautiful Finnish Lapland scenery in the vicinity if Urho Kekkonen National Park. We enjoy excellent connections. Highway 4 is nearby and all scheduled buses drive right up to the hotel. Ivalo airport is just 35 kilometres away, only half an hour by car. The whole village, our cabins, restaurant and saunas, are hand made of the rare dead standing pine.

Log cabins
Hotel Kakslauttanen comprises 25 first-class log cabins with shower/toilet, kitchenette and fireplace. All of the cabins even have own saunas. Also a luxury wedding chamber made of turf. The cabins are located sufficiently far apart so that each cabin has its own peaceful garden area.

Restaurant
The hotel restaurant is also made of logs and there are three big fireplaces in the restaurant. The restaurant has seating for 160 customers, a cosy 40 seats lobby bar with fireplace for evening entertainment. Both fully licensed. Also a high-standard souvenir shop and a handicraft gallery. In our restaurant we serve Lappish delicacies e.g. reindeer and wild boar meat, salmon and King crabs from the Arctic Ocean and whitefish from the lake Inari. The house’s speciality is charcoal-grilled salmon or reindeer fillet prepared by the restaurant’s open fireplace in front of the clients. As a dessert we serve courses like Lappish cheese with cloudberries, lingonberry parfait or frozen cranberries. In the bar you can enjoy Finnish drinks like Finnish vodka and cloudberry liquer or hot drinks e.g. ’glögi’ or ’Jussi’s toddy’ named after our host. In our main restaurant we have also four meeting rooms for 10-70 persons.

Teepee restaurants
The hotel has also two Lapp tent restaurants and they offer an exotic touch and can serve around 50 guests. In these teepee restaurants we arrange dinners with performances of Lapp Joiku songs presented by original Sami people.

World’s largest smoke sauna and smoke sauna restaurant
The hotel has the world’s largest smoke sauna even for 100 persons and two log saunas. In our smoke sauna there are two separate sauna departments (for 15 and for 85 persons ), dressing rooms with fireplaces, showers and toilets. In summer you can go swimming to the pond nearby and in winter we have possibility for ice-swimming, icepool. Smoke sauna restaurant has place for 100 persons, a large fireplace where the meals are mostly prepared in front of the guests. Restaurant is an excellent place also for meetings- facilities like data projector, for example.

Igloo Village
In winter, from December until April, in the close proximity to our hotel situated Igloo Village Kakslauttanen offers possibility to overnight in an igloo. In the Igloo Village there are about 20 igloos, even a Honeymoon suite –igloo, and an Ice Gallery for 100 persons e.g. for cocktail-parties. The igloos for overnight are for 1-4 persons each, in the Igloo Village there are all together approx. 60 beds. In the igloos we have snow beds with reindeer hides, lamb wool rugs and pillows. The warm down sleeping bags, woollen caps and socks are provided by the hotel. The igloos have electric lightning. Inside the igloos the temperature stays between 0°C - -6°C, even it is -30°C outside! Warm toilets are situated just beside the igloos. In the Ice Gallery there is also an Ice Chapel for weddings and christenings. In the Ice Gallery possible to enjoy buffet lunch or dinner, in the Ice Bar warm drinks. In the Igloo Village there are also 5 Glass Igloos and a Glass Kota (teepee). Glass Kota is especially for the guests overnighting in the snow igloos, also for the hotel guests who want to wait the Northern Lighs in the warm and cosy place. Excellent also for meetings and buffet meals. Also for people who visits in the Igloo Village, can use this Glass Kota for the observing the Northern Lights. Glass Igloos and Glass Kota have a normal room temperature. While observing the real Northern Lights possible to follow programme of Aurora Borealis, the Northern Lights, from the video. Overnight in igloo includes sauna in the evening or in the morning and breakfast in our log restaurant. The igloos are situated approx. 200 meters from our main restaurant, so it is easy to go there on foot. The paths to the Igloo Village are illuminated.

Aurora Borealis
Kakslauttanen is a very good place for seeing the Northern Lights, Aurora Borealis, as in the area there are not so many electric lights outside. The Northern Lights can be seen from late August ( 23.8. ) until end of April. They are of course visible only in clear weather and intermittently. More powerful the Northern Lights are in September. When the Northern lights are visible, you do not have to go far to see them, they can be seen just from the hotel’s yard and outside your cabin or igloo.

The magical midnight sun
In June and July the sun never stops shining and even in August the sun sets as late as at 11 p.m. on Kaunispää fell, which is situated 12 kilometres from Kakslauttanen. Kaunispää is the only fell in Finnish Lapland, which can be reached by car.

Programmes
Our hotel is specialised in package tours and we make also all the arrangements for transfers and guidance. We arrange transfers from/to Ivalo airport. We can make a special programme according to the client’s wishes in principle from the airport to the airport.
